Counselling & psychotherapy
Therapy at the london bridge practice is greatly influenced by psychodynamic thinking. This type of therapy appreciates the complexities of human relationships; contradictions and paradox, and the conscious and unconscious patterns that occur within them. Through understanding your own narrative and your history, it becomes possible to understand current problems and conflicts. In knowing where we have come from, and where we feel we are now in our lives, the therapeutic experience enables us to see what can be holding us back from gaining more satisfaction and pleasure in life. Psychological pain, its symptoms and preoccupations, can be processed in therapy. Emotional blocks can be undestood and hold less influence.
A successful experience of therapy leads to people moving forwards and feeling more in the present, with a greater sense of purpose and with improved access to their feelings and inner world. For some, a greater sense of their own needs becomes clearer; this new information can lead to new opportunities and to feeling more connected to themselves and others. Old inner held beliefs about the self (and others) can be challenged and can change.
Therapy is offered once or twice weekly, depending on need and therapy aims.
Appointments are available for short- term, time-limited sessions of between 8 - 12 weeks and for longer term, open ended work.
